Multi-Fandom Meetup

A few weeks ago, I was emailed by the organizer of the local Battlestar Galactica Meetup.  To celebrate 'Free Comic Book Day', she and the local Firefly Meetup organizer were proposing a big multi-fandom meetup, with all the local sci-fi groups at one location.  I thought it was a great idea, and I was happy to join in with my group, The Greater Vancouver Stargate Meetup.  On Saturday, at 2:00, we met at a cafe down the street from one of the biggest comic book stores in Vancouver.  I was a little nervous about meeting so many new people at one time, but it was great.  Val, the leader of the BSG group, and Serena, the leader of the Firefly group, were warm and welcoming, and all their members seemed like smart, friendly people.  Three other members of my group were there, but with everything going on, I didn't get a chance to talk with them as much as I would have liked.  But, it was a nice start, and I look forward to doing something like that again soon.
