Last Day in Chicago

Last night was great.  Michael Shanks was signing on one side of the room and David Hewlett on the other.  Creation announced that there would be no personalization.  Michael's line went very fast.  Each person got a smile and an autograph.  I did hear a couple of people ask him to personalize and he did it without complaint, but, for the most part, he signed each photo very quickly.  David, on the other hand, took the time to have a conversation with everyone in line.  His line went very slowly.  Since, he was personalizing everyones' photos, Creation finally gave up and had someone start writing peoples names on post-it notes, to make it faster. 

When it was my turn, I asked David if it was true that he was moving away from Pt. Roberts.  He said yes, they were buying a house in L.A., but that they were keeping the house in Pt. Roberts and still intend to use it for vacations.  I told him that he still needs to come to the 4th of July Parade every year, so he wrote on my photo "See you at the parades!"  He is such a sweetie.  He said he signed over 500 photos yesterday.  His line didn't finish until after 11:00.

Today was just SGU stuff.  I didn't go to any of it, but stuck my head in the auditorium right before the panel to see what kind of attendance they were getting.  The room was less than a third full.

I've been vicariously living this con through LJ entrise such as yours and twitter. I heard that David personalized and stayed late, which was great. I also heard that the SGU panels were much less packed, which is sad. Thanks so much for your reports and pictures.

I love David for taking the time to talk to everyone. I was at the end of the line, tired and hungry, but he made it worth the 3.5 hr wait. He rocks!

Awwww! David is such a sweety! I'm glad that he personalized your photo the way he did. Also glad he is keeping the place in PR. Happy that you are having so much fun. Look forward to hearing all of it and seeing the photos at the next meetup.
